Hi, I’m Debbie.  I first began seriously baking bread when I worked in a bakery in Santa Cruz for a few months. Noobs like me didn’t actually get to make dough and form loaves, but my 4:30am shift did allow me to bake a lot of sourdough every morning. I left that job for better hours and free books, but I managed to gain a few techniques during my time there. I had some time to refine these techniques years later when I unexpectedly acquired a lot of time off after the dot-com crash. I did begin working again after a while, but my love of making slow food remained, though mostly on a weekend basis.
